Rugged VPX Self-Encrypting Drives

Rugged VPX Storage with Deployment Flexibility

MEMKOR VPX series offers deployment flexibility through a highly rugged military-grade 3U OpenVPX storage module. Available in fixed or removable configurations, with high performance PCIe/NVMe or low power SATA interfaces, and in air cooled or conduction cooled modules.


The removable storage canisters can be optimized for client operations such as boot drives, or for enterprise class operations to maximize performance and reduce latencies.


Based on the ORANGE, BLUE, and BLACK-series MEMKOR SSDs, the 3U VPX-series is built with the highest reliability MLC and SLC NAND, combined with the state-of-the-art flash management techniques, strong EDC/ECC/CRC, end-to-end data protection strategy, and sudden power loss safeguards integrated in software and hardware. MEMKOR’s 3U VPX SSDs provide the highest level of reliability, durability, and write-endurance. 


MEMKOR 3U VPX modules are available in multiple OpenVPX, SOSA aligned configurations that are either VITA 48.1 / VITA 48.2 compliant. These include:

  • Rugged OpenVPX SSD Module
  • Rugged Fixed (non-removable) Module
  • Rugged Single (1) removable canister
  • Rugged Double (2) removable canisters

Fixed storage module for highest capacity - up to 32TB using 3K PEC NAND for high write endurance and better performance at high temps.


Rugged single high-insertion removable canister

Designed and built for maximum capacity, up to 8TB using 3K PEC NAND for high write endurance and better performance at high temps.


Rugged double high-insertion removable canisters

Capacity up to 2x4TB using using 3K PEC NAND for high write endurance and better performance at high temps.

SECURE

Data At Rest (DAR) protection is ensured by MEMKOR’s FIPS 197 validated encryption engine and FIPS 140-2 compliant architecture. Optional TCG Opal 2.0 and TCG Enterprise encryption management is available for either PCIe or SATA modules. Multiple Data Elimination techniques and Write Protect are built-in. 


RUGGED 

Designed for extreme temperatures, the storage containers are conduction cooled with heat efficiently transferred directly to the MEMKOR VPX Module shell to VPX Chassis rail. The storage canisters connect to the VPX module via high-insertion number, high-speed connector, and further through either PCIe or SATA switch to the OpenVPX backplane.


HIGH ENDURANCE

Built with TLC, MLC, or SLC NAND, expect 3,000 to 100,000 Program/Erase cycles (PEC). Performance up to 3300MB/s. But if you really want to be impressed, performance differences with competitors are especially noticeable at higher temperatures. Don't just compare data sheets, test MEMKOR drives out in the field in real-world operating environments.


The removable canisters support Two-Level Maintenance processes.


All MEMKOR 3U VPX series production units are fully tested beyond extended temperature range, in addition to 12-48 hours room temperature unit burn-in, all done at our HQ in Scottsdale, Arizona.


MEMKOR offers customers a Locked Bill of Material (L-BOM), obsolescence management process to facilitate smooth qualification, and increased product lifecycle longevity.
