Description
MEMKOR is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Solid-State Drive (SSD) Memory Systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of cutting-edge SSD systems into Military embedded systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability. This role requires a deep understanding of SSD technology, systems engineering, and firmware/software interaction.
The successful candidate will also lead the Hardware Development (Mechanical & Electronics) efforts for custom SSD solutions, working with mechanical engineers to design enclosures, heat sinks, and other mechanical components that ensure optimal performance, thermal management, ruggedization, and integration into customer operating environments.
This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strong communication / customer interaction capabilities to predictably deliver high quality products and a positive customer experience throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture Design: Lead the design and development of SSD-based memory systems with a focus on performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- SSD Integration: Work closely with customers to integrate SSD systems into embedded military solutions, ensuring seamless operation within customer environments.
- Hardware Development (Mechanical & Electronics): Oversee the design and development of both mechanical components (e.g., enclosures, thermal solutions) and electronic hardware (e.g., PCB layout, power management) to meet rigorous military-grade specifications
- Firmware and Software Optimization: Collaborate with firmware and software teams to develop, debug, and optimize SSD firmware to enhance system performance.
- System Testing and Validation: Develop and execute rigorous test plans for SSD systems to validate performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level support for SSD-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of SSD hardware development projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and coordination across teams.
- Documentation: Oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation of SSD systems and associated processes for internal and external use.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with clients to gather requirements and ensure that SSD solutions meet their needs and performance expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on SSD memory systems.
- SSD Expertise: Deep knowledge of NAND flash memory, security features and encryption, and related SSD technologies. Must have familiarity with storage standards and protocols such as SATA, NVMe, PCIe, VITA, SOSA, and experience with performance tuning and analysis.
- Firmware/Software Development: Strong understanding of SSD firmware architecture and software development processes.
- Mechanical CAD Design: Create and optimize mechanical designs for custom SSD solutions, including enclosures, cooling solutions, and form-factor adjustments to meet specific customer requirements. Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms for custom mechanical designs
- Debugging Skills: Hands-on experience with system-level debugging tools, including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
- Independent: Capable of working independently, taking initiative, and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.
